Where we meet

Bethel Scout Hall

We meet from 3-4:30 pm on Sunday Afternoons
Unless otherwise noted on calendar for Court of Honors, or Committee meetings

Monthly Outings

Each month the troop goes on an outing. Typically for these we leave on Friday evening or Saturday morning and return on Sunday afternoon. These are usually camps; adventures such as backpacking, winter camping, caving, hiking or competing in Klondike Derby or Camporee.

Summer camp

Troop 1529 attends a week-long summer camp each year in July. We try to alternate between "near" camps (Camp Parsons, Camp Piggott, Camp Fire Mountain) and "far" camps (Camp Meriwether, Camp Easton, Camp Baldwin).

Traditions

Every Boy Scout troop has traditions that make it unique. Here are some of ours:

Leaning Left

At every event, our troop takes at least one picture of its members leaning left. Here's why:

“A long time ago on a campout far, far away, members of Troop 1529 posed for a group photo. Scoutmaster Charlie Philips set the timer on his camera and then set it on the hood of his pickup, since he had no tripod. Unfortunately, the truck wasn’t sitting level, so neither was the camera.”

“Mr. Philips hollered out for everyone to ‘lean left’ to compensate for this factor and everyone obliged. So, to this day, every set of group photos taken at a Troop 1529 event includes, at least, one shot with everyone leaning to the left.”

Scoutmaster Patch

Our Scoutmaster's position patch is handed down from leader to leader, each one signing the back of the patch when his tenure is completed.

Dutch Oven Cooking

Our troop's members pride themselves on their Dutch oven cooking mastery. We eat well in this troop!
